Explore Secluded Calas and Beaches
The 44km Marbella coastline includes numerous calas — small coves and anchorages — that are either inaccessible from land or so difficult to reach that they are effectively private. On a charter day, Maia Fair's crew navigate to the most beautiful spots based on conditions, swell direction and time of year. In practice, this means anchoring in crystal-clear water off a deserted stretch of sand, with the Sierra Blanca rising behind and nothing but sea ahead.
The western beaches, in particular — beyond San Pedro de Alcantara and towards Guadalmina and Estepona — are significantly quieter than the beaches adjacent to Puerto Banus and the Golden Mile. A full-day charter typically covers 60km of coastline, anchoring at two or three locations.

- Jet ski — a full-size RYA-approved jet ski, operated by a qualified instructor. One of the most popular activities on any charter day — particularly off the quieter western beaches where there is space to open up.
- Seabob F5-SR — an electric underwater scooter that reaches speeds of up to 12.5mph below the surface. It is steered by body weight and requires no previous experience. Suitable from age 10. Almost universally the highlight of the day for first-time users.
- Paddleboards — stand-up paddleboards for the calmer sections of the day. Perfect at anchor in a sheltered bay.
- Water skis and wakeboard — towed sports for those who want something more active. The crew run instruction sessions for beginners and experienced riders alike.
Snorkelling
The Mediterranean waters off Marbella are among the clearest on the Spanish coast. Snorkelling equipment is available on request, and the crew know the best spots for underwater visibility — typically the quieter western anchorages where there is less boat traffic and better seabed variety. The rocky headlands and breakwaters west of Puerto Banus support good populations of sea bream, sea bass, octopus and, occasionally, cuttlefish.
Sunset Cruise Along the Golden Mile
One of the most spectacular things it is possible to do in Marbella from the water is a late afternoon departure from Puerto Banus, heading east along the Golden Mile as the sun descends behind the Sierra Bermeja mountains to the west. The light at this time of day is extraordinary — the white facades of the Marbella Club and Puente Romano glow amber, La Concha mountain turns deep purple and the sea surface catches the colour of the sky.

Dolphin Watching en Route to Gibraltar
On extended full-day charters heading west from Puerto Banus towards Gibraltar, dolphin encounters are a regular occurrence in the waters approaching the Strait. Three species are resident year-round in the Strait of Gibraltar — Common Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin and Striped Dolphin — and all three have been encountered on Maia Fair charters in the waters between Sotogrande and the Rock.
Pilot Whales are also resident in the Strait year-round, and Sperm Whales and Fin Whales pass through seasonally. July and August offer the best chance of Orca sightings, when these animals follow the bluefin tuna migration through the Strait.
